IFAA statement March 2022

The Executive Council wish to inform you about the following communication received from TAFISA

The TAFISA Executive Board
Frankfurt am Main, Germany, 3 March 2022
Statement from the TAFISA Executive Board TAFISA expresses its profound sadness regarding the ongoing armed conflict and condemns the attack by the governments of Russia and the Republic of Belarus against Ukraine. In these volatile and extremely critical times, our sympathy and support go to Ukrainians and those affected by the conflict.
TAFISA stands for peace, mutual understanding, building bridges between peoples and cultures, and working
together to create a better world. Violence is against our core values, and we sincerely hope that the world
will come together and achieve a peaceful resolution to the current conflict. As an international organisation, the ongoing situation affects the work of TAFISA and its members. Therefore, the TAFISA Executive Board has held an extraordinary meeting and made the decision to take the following measures, effective immediately:
  1. No TAFISA event can take place in Russia or the Republic of Belarus until further notice. Organisations
cannot bid or apply to host TAFISA events in either country.
  2. TAFISA Membership is suspended for organisations from Russia and the Republic of Belarus.
  3. Representatives and organisations from either country cannot take part in official TAFISA events, such as
the TAFISA World Congress, TAFISA General Assembly, TAFISA World Sport for All Games, TAFISA Regional Sport for All Games, TAFISA World Walking Day and others.
  4. No representative from Russia or the Republic of Belarus can represent TAFISA in any function or position.
Existing functions and positions by representatives of either country in TAFISA bodies are suspended.
Representatives of either country cannot be nominated or apply for a mandate as a TAFISA representative.
  5. TAFISA representatives will not attend any events (physical or virtual) in Russia or the Republic of Belarus
    until further notice.

Additionally, the TAFISA Executive Board strongly suggests the following recommendations to TAFISA
Members:

  1. Hosting events in Russia or the Republic of Belarus should be avoided until further notice.
  2. Representatives should avoid attending any events (physical or virtual) in Russia or the Republic of Belarus
    until further notice.
  3. Representatives of Russia or the Republic of Belarus should not be allowed to participate in TAFISA
members’ events and should not continue in their elected function or position within TAFISA member
    organisations.

It took us a long time and a lot of efforts to extend the IFAA Family of Archers into Eastern Europe and into Russia. Historical and cultural aspects played a strong role, and we were delighted when we received in the last year the membership applications first from Kaliningrad and then from the Russian Archery Federation. It was and is our strong belief that sport unites people. However, as stated in the Preamble to our Constitution, one of our highest value is peace which is the basis of all interaction and this value shall not be compromised.

With respect to the hosts of our upcoming Championships, who clearly expressed their view, which is in line with the statement from TAFISA, and with the understanding that our archers are also supporting the principle of “Zero Tolerance”, the Executives of the IFAA have decided to adopt the recommendations from TAFISA for at least one (1) year subject to confirmation by the World Council and review in one (1) year from now.

This is applicable to all full members, associated and temporary members as well as to all corporate members with immediate effect. Accordingly, all pending affiliation processes will be suspended as well.

WFAC has once again been postponed

Dear Archers,

The situation in the world caused by COVID-19 is still turbulent. Despite the desire of many competitors to participate in the WFAC this year, we have made a joint decision by the IFAA and the FAAE not to hold the tournament in 2021 and postpone it to 2022. Therefore, we announce that WFAC will take place between August 5 and August 13, 2022.

The venue of the WFAC is the same as it was planned earlier – Jõulumäe Recreation Centre, Leina village, Häädemeeste parish, 86504 Pärnu county, Estonia. Competitors who had registered and paid the competition fee to participate in WFAC2020 and now wish to participate in WFAC in the next year do not have to do anything, their participation fee will be retained and carried forward to the next Tournament.

The same applies to accommodation in the competition village. Competitors who have booked and paid for accommodation and wish to participate in WFAC in the next year and stay in the competition village do not have to do anything. Their reservations and payments will be carried over to 2022.

As more than two years have passed since the registration of the competitors at the time of WFAC in year 2022, we ask all competitors to review their age classes by the end of July. In the coming weeks, we will send a link to all competitors by e-mail, where you can correct your registered data and to confirm participation in the competition in 2022.

On behalf of the Tournament Organizers we thank you for your patience and understanding!

Pandemic situation

Although we are positive that by the time you must start your journey to the Event, regulations to control the pandemic situation will be more relaxed, we want you to be aware of the following:

  • Classification Scores and score card entry requirements for the WFAC, are relaxed due to the lack of opportunities to shoot last year.  In practise we are also accepting 3-Year-old scores – If you had last year valid scores, then you are also fine for this year.
  • For your travel and accommodation arrangement, it is your own responsibility to make sure you have a flexible cancellation clause in the agreement with your travel / accommodation provider, allowing cancellation your bookings and have your payment refunded or at least the bigger portion of it.  Such clause shall allow you to cancel up until two (2) weeks before the event as a minimum.
  • Make sure that you have travel insurance that covers the following items:

– Travel cancellation due to personal reasons. (Sickness, unemployment, etc.)

– Trip cancellation.

– Foreign Health Insurance (make sure it does not include a “pandemic exclusion clause”).

– Some insurers are offering Corona Care packages providing you with extra coverage in case of quarantine, costly testing etc.

  • IFAA supports the organisers of the Championships to increase planning security for Participants and Volunteers by agreeing with the relevant Authorities on a Pandemic Management Concept. As this is work in progress, we will provide you with updates on a monthly base or more frequently if so deemed to be necessary.
  • For WFAC – a Go / No-go decision will be made in April, based on the progress of the approval of the Pandemic Management Concept.
  • To the end of May IFAA will update the Event Status (WFAC) for your information. If by this date strict travel restrictions are still in place that would not allow Archers from Non-European Member Associations joining the tournament, the Status of that Event will then be downgraded to a Regional Championship only.

About corona

Corona Virus Review # 2

The Estonian government has imposed a number of restrictions over the past 1.5 weeks (cultural and sporting events, schools, some restrictions on movement). The borders of Estonia are not closed, there is a health check at the borders, and there is a guarantee period for those entering the country.

Over the past 1.5 weeks, the number of people infected with Corona virus in Estonia has increased, while the daily increase in the number of people infected with the virus has slowed down. The number of hospitalized people in Estonia is small, 17 people, 4 of whom have been healed and 4 are in critical condition, we have no fatalities.

Analyzing news from China and Italy shows a slowdown in the spread of the virus. We cannot guarantee that the WFAC2020 will take place or vice versa that it will not. The organizers will continue the preparations for the Tournament. We believe the situation in Europe has returned to normal in the summer and we do not need to announce the tournament will be canceled.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Tournament Participants,

Global news channels daily reflect the state of the Corona virus in various countries. There is relatively little information about the Corona virus in international news channels concerning Estonia.

In this regard, we consider it necessary to share some explanations about the situation in Estonia.

Today, March 13, the Estonian government declared a state of emergency in the country, which will last until May 1st. The emergency situation involves various activities aimed at stopping the spread of the virus, mainly to prevent the spread of the virus across the state border into Estonia. There are currently 40 infected people in Estonia whose contacts and people they have been in contact with are known and isolated. People’s awareness of how to prevent the spread of the virus is quite high.

The organizing committee believes that the WFAC will take place on time. When new circumstances of the Corona virus occur in Estonia, we will publish them immediately on the Tournament website.

At the same time, we announce that we have begun the activities and materials production needed to run the Tournament. In connection with the above, from March 15th all changes related to bow styles, names of competitors, etc. will be subject to a fee of € 20. This fee is not related to the refund of the entry fee!

The fee for making these changes will be paid on the spot at the venue, in cash upon registration.

Extended payment deadline

Due to WBHC 2019 we extended the first payment deadline to September 27th, please make sure your payment reaches us before that date.
